Storage

Screen condition
A cracked screen does not drop you to a faulty price. You keep the condition the phone is otherwise in and we simply take off what the glass costs us to replace, because we replace them ourselves.
A foldable's hinge and inner display take the brunt of daily use in a way a slab phone's screen never does, so grading a Duo will weigh hinge feel and inner-screen creasing more heavily than our standard checks. Expect that to show up clearly in the condition categories once we have handled real units.
The Duo has two screens, a 7.6-inch inner panel and a 5.4-inch outer one, and both count when we grade it. A pristine outer screen on a handset with a marked inner display is not a pristine phone, and our condition questions will ask about them separately rather than lumping them together.
Body and connector
Dents, scuffs and cracks to the casing are graded as part of the overall condition. A cracked back or a bent frame lowers the offer but rarely rules a device out.
If you are the sort of early adopter who buys a first-generation folding phone, we would rather be upfront: first-generation foldable hardware from other manufacturers has tended to show wear faster than a standard phone, and we will grade the Duo accordingly rather than assume it ages like a normal iPhone.
Nobody, including us, has fold-specific trade-in data yet, so the release-day estimate borrows from the iPhone 17 Pro Max rather than inventing a number from nothing. That anchor comes off quickly once actual Duo trade-in volume tells us how the device holds value.
Apple has not stated a dust or water resistance rating for the Duo, and foldables have generally lagged slab phones on ingress protection. We will add the confirmed rating to this page the moment Apple states one, rather than assume it matches the Pro Max.
Battery health
Our cut off is 90 per cent, so at or above that there is no deduction at all. Below it we take off what a genuine replacement costs us rather than calling the iPhone Duo faulty. Apple's own 80 per cent mark is a repair threshold, not a resale one.
Whether it powers on
A device that boots and passes our checks is worth more than one that does not, but a dead handset is still worth telling us about rather than binning.
iCloud or Google account lock
We can only buy your iPhone Duo once it is signed out of iCloud, with Find My switched off.

2.Sign out of iCloud or your Google account
Turn off Find My before you hand over the iPhone Duo. A device still signed in cannot be bought from you.

3.Take out the SIM and any memory card
These are yours to keep and are not part of the sale.

4.Note down the IMEI
Dial *#06# or check Settings to find it, in case you want a record for your own files.

Ownership, ID and your data
Three things worth knowing before you sell anything to anyone, not just to us.
The device has to be yours to sell
We cannot buy a device that is still under contract or on finance, because until it is paid off you are not yet its legal owner. We also cannot buy a device that is part of an ongoing insurance claim, or that has been reported lost or stolen.

We record name, address and ID on every purchase
We record the name and address of everyone we buy from, and check them against photo ID and proof of address. HMRC requires it: buying from a private seller, we have to raise the purchase invoice ourselves and it must carry your details. Bring the documents into the shop and show us, or send a photo if the device is reaching us another way.
It protects you as much as us: the purchase can always be traced back to a genuine sale rather than an anonymous one. A photocard driving licence showing your current address covers both documents on its own.

Once your device is checked in, it is fully wiped and factory reset at our shop before it goes anywhere else. Nothing of yours is left behind on it.

When does the iPhone Duo come out?
The Duo was announced on 9 September 2026, with pre-orders opening on 16 October and the handset reaching customers on 23 October.
Is the iPhone Duo the same phone the leaks called the iPhone Fold?
It is. Pre-release coverage used several names for it, including iPhone Fold and iPhone Ultra, and we used the first of those on this page ourselves before the announcement. Apple calls it the iPhone Duo.
How much will an iPhone Duo trade in for?
We do not yet have folding-iPhone trade-in data to price against, so the release-day figure starts anchored to the iPhone 17 Pro Max and gets replaced with a Duo-specific valuation once we have assessed real units.
Does a crease in the inner screen affect what you pay?
Almost certainly, and we would rather say so now than surprise you later. A visible crease is normal wear on a folding display rather than a fault, so it will not disqualify a handset, but it is part of the condition we grade. We will publish exactly where the line falls once we have seen enough real ones to draw it honestly.
What capacities does the iPhone Duo come in?
It runs 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB, in star white and night sky. We buy all of them, though the larger capacities do not have a separate quoted figure on this page yet, because there is no equivalent handset from last year to anchor them against.
