Screen condition
A cracked screen does not drop you to a faulty price. You keep the condition the phone is otherwise in and we simply take off what the glass costs us to replace, because we replace them ourselves.
Body and connector
Dents, scuffs and cracks to the casing are graded as part of the overall condition. A cracked back or a bent frame lowers the offer but rarely rules a device out.
Budget iPhones tend to reuse chips and cameras from a Pro model a generation or two old rather than debut new hardware, and there's nothing to suggest the 18e will break that habit. We're not going to guess which older components it inherits until Apple actually says.
The e-line's resale value has historically sat well below the numbered and Pro models it shares a launch year with, and that gap is unlikely to close for the 18e. If value retention matters to you, it's worth going in with realistic expectations rather than comparing it to the Pro tier.
We're pricing today's quote against the iPhone 16e rather than a 17-series model, because the 16e is the most recent e-model with a settled trade-in track record on our books. Expect this anchor to shift onto current 17e or 18e figures once they exist.
An e-model launching in the same window as a numbered iPhone often gets less coverage in the run-up to release, so specifics on the 18e may firm up later than for the rest of the lineup. We'll update this page as soon as anything is confirmed rather than filling the gap with speculation.
Battery health
Our cut off is 90 per cent, so at or above that there is no deduction at all. Below it we take off what a genuine replacement costs us rather than calling the iPhone 18e faulty. Apple's own 80 per cent mark is a repair threshold, not a resale one.
Whether it powers on
A device that boots and passes our checks is worth more than one that does not, but a dead handset is still worth telling us about rather than binning.
An older e-model that's given up completely hasn't run out of value, it's just run out of ways to get priced automatically. Our online quote needs the handset to power on before it'll grade anything, so a fully dead one goes through us directly: photos first for a rough figure, then a firm one once we've seen it in person.
iCloud or Google account lock
We can only buy your iPhone 18e once it is signed out of iCloud, with Find My switched off.
The awkward one on an old spare is an Apple Account nobody can get back into. If you can't remember the password on whatever you're trading in, sort that out before you send it, because we can't sign out on your behalf, and a handset still tied to an account isn't one we're able to buy. Find My has to be off too.

Three things worth knowing before you sell anything to anyone, not just to us.
The device has to be yours to sell
We cannot buy a device that is still under contract or on finance, because until it is paid off you are not yet its legal owner. We also cannot buy a device that is part of an ongoing insurance claim, or that has been reported lost or stolen.

We record name, address and ID on every purchase
We record the name and address of everyone we buy from, and check them against photo ID and proof of address. HMRC requires it: buying from a private seller, we have to raise the purchase invoice ourselves and it must carry your details. Bring the documents into the shop and show us, or send a photo if the device is reaching us another way.
It protects you as much as us: the purchase can always be traced back to a genuine sale rather than an anonymous one. A photocard driving licence showing your current address covers both documents on its own.

Once your device is checked in, it is fully wiped and factory reset at our shop before it goes anywhere else. Nothing of yours is left behind on it.

When does the iPhone 18e come out?
We're expecting Spring 2027, roughly in line with where Apple has placed its budget iPhone launches in recent years, though nothing is confirmed yet.
How much will an iPhone 18e trade in for?
There's no real 18e figure yet. Until Apple announces the phone, we quote against today's iPhone 16e value and switch to genuine 18e pricing once the device and its specs are public.
Is the iPhone 18e worth less than the standard iPhone 18 when trading in?
Generally, yes. Budget-line iPhones have tended to trade in for less than the numbered and Pro models from the same year, and we'd expect the 18e to follow that same pattern.
Is there any point selling my current phone now instead of waiting for the 18e?
For most people, yes. Handsets lose value as they age, so holding one for a year against a launch that hasn't been confirmed means selling an older phone into a weaker market. If you genuinely need it until the 18e turns up, keep it. If it's already spare, there's little to gain by leaving it in a drawer.
Is repairing an older entry-level iPhone worth it, or should I just sell it?
Either can be right, and since mendmyi repairs phones as well as buying them you'll get a straight view instead of a sales pitch. The case where a repair stops making sense on an older entry-level handset is when the model has dropped off the manufacturer's software-update list, or the same fault has already come back once. Short of that, if you're keeping the phone or passing it on, fixing it is usually the better call.
If I accept a quote, how long before it expires?
You get 14 days. It runs from the point the device has been inspected and the offer confirmed, not from when a figure first appears in front of you, and nothing about it obliges you to accept on the day. Nothing can be inspected on an 18e until it launches, so the hold matters from that point onward.
