Likely repairs, based on the original Air
The original iPhone Air's ultra-thin design meant a slimmer battery and less room to absorb a knock, which showed up in the repairs we did most: screen, battery and back-glass work. We'd expect the Air 2 to bring a similar repair profile unless Apple changes the design significantly, though we're treating that as an expectation rather than a confirmed fact.
Face ID and part-pairing on a thin phone
However thin the Air 2 turns out to be, Face ID sits in its own sensor module and isn't affected by a screen or battery repair; that's been true on every iPhone with the feature, the original Air included. Certain components on recent iPhones are matched to the handset at the factory, and an uncalibrated replacement can trigger an "Unknown Part" note in Settings without changing how the part performs; we'll explain that before you choose a repair option.
Why the Air 2 starts with just one screen tier
Building a lower-cost display for a phone this new isn't something anyone can do before the handset itself exists; other manufacturers need a real Air 2 in hand to work from, and that only happens after launch. That's the whole reason the Air 2 launches with original-quality screens only, and it's not a gap we plan to leave open for long, just one we won't shortcut before a genuinely tested cheaper part is ready.

Once the Air 2 exists, the same three options apply as for the original Air: walk in to our Haverhill shop, post the device to us, or book a free local collection. Every repair carries our 12-month warranty regardless of which route you choose.

Too early to say. The original Air's thin design meant less room to absorb a knock, and whether the Air 2 improves on that depends on changes Apple hasn't announced yet, so we're not going to promise anything either way.
Why is there only one screen option for the iPhone Air 2?
No lower-cost version exists for it yet. Parts makers need time with an actual Air 2 before they can produce a decent copy of its screen, so until that happens, original-quality is the only option we'll fit; we'll add a cheaper alternative once one's been properly tested.
