iPhone 18 Pro Max repairs, from day one

Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro Max on 9 September 2026 alongside the 18 Pro, and it goes on sale on 18 September. It has a 6.9-inch OLED display running at 2868 by 1320 pixels, the A20 Pro chip, and four storage tiers topping out at 2TB, in the same black, silver, glacier and burgundy finishes as its smaller sibling.

Pricing on this page is anchored to the outgoing iPhone 17 Pro Max and stays there for now. What Apple charges for the phone tells us nothing useful about what a replacement display will cost the repair trade, and until those parts are actually being sold, a real 18 Pro Max figure would be invented.

Telling a Pro Max from a Pro

The 18 Pro Max is sold as A3473, A3716, A3717 or A3718 by region, and reports itself as iPhone19,3 or iPhone19,7. The two Pro models share a finish range and a design language, so the surest way to know which you have is Settings, then General, then About. The distinction matters here in a way it does not in a phone shop: a 6.9-inch panel and a 6.3-inch panel are different parts at different prices.

Parts, warranty and Face ID

Face ID lives in its own hardware module, entirely separate from the screen and battery, so neither of those repairs interferes with how it works. On recent Pro Max generations certain parts are matched to the handset at the factory, and fitting an uncalibrated replacement can surface an "Unknown Part" message in Settings without affecting how the part performs, which is why every screen we fit on the iPhone 18 Pro Max at launch is an original part. Every job we complete carries a 12-month warranty regardless of which tier you pick.

One screen tier for now, and why

A lower-cost screen only becomes available once someone outside Apple has had the handset long enough to engineer a copy of it, and that process starts at release, not at announcement. Until that happens for the 18 Pro Max, original-quality is the only screen tier we offer, and we would rather hold that line than fit something nobody has had the chance to verify. A second, more affordable option lands here as soon as one passes our own testing.
