iPad Air 3 Screen and Battery Repair

An iPad Air 3 screen replacement is £146 fitted at our Haverhill workshop, with a free diagnostic first and a 12-month warranty after. Screens and batteries are what these come in for, six years on. Apple no longer publishes an out-of-warranty price for this model at all, so we do.

Which iPad Air 3 have you got? Check the number first

Apple sold the 2019 iPad Air as four model numbers: A2152, A2123, A2153 and A2154. The split is Wi-Fi against Cellular and the cellular bands each region was built for, and nothing on the back of the tablet says "3rd generation" anywhere.

If you are not sure which one is in your hands, it is in Settings > General > About, under Model Number. Tap it once and it changes from the part number to the A-number.

All four take the same screen and the same battery, so the price on this page applies whichever you have. It matters when someone is buying a part; it does not change what we charge to fit one.

What a screen replacement costs, and why Apple will not quote you

£146 fitted, usually back with you the same week.

Apple's own out-of-warranty pricing covers the iPad Air 4th generation and everything newer. Checked on 7 September 2026, the 3rd generation is not on that list, so there is no published Apple figure to compare against. It is not vintage or obsolete either, so Apple has not stopped servicing it; they simply will not show you a price without an enquiry first.

That is the practical difference on a tablet this age. We will tell you what it costs before you commit to anything.

The battery is the other half of the job

A 2019 iPad has been through six years of charge cycles, and the battery is the second reason these arrive.

The first thing we look at is the battery health figure. Between 80 and 90 percent you should expect real problems rather than subtle ones: the charge falls away far quicker at the end than the start, the tablet runs warm, and it starts shutting down on its own with charge apparently still left. At 80 percent or below we will tell you to replace it. That threshold is ours, from the bench, not a number Apple publishes.

An iPad Air 3 battery replacement is quoted rather than listed, which is why the table above says "Get a Quote" instead of a figure. On an iPad the battery is a display-out job, so the work depends on how the panel comes away, and we would rather look at it than promise you a number we might have to change. The diagnostic that tells us costs nothing.

Charging ports, and a six-year-old Lightning connector

This is the last iPad Air with a Lightning port, and a connector that has been plugged in daily since 2019 collects pocket lint, bent pins and worn contacts. A charging port repair is £126.

Worth trying before you book anything: turn it off, look into the port with a torch, and clear any compacted lint with something wooden rather than metal. That fixes a fair number of them for free. What a screen repair does not affect

Apple tracks replaced parts on the iPad Air line from the M2 generation onward, and only Touch ID at that. This tablet is three generations older than the first one Apple tracks, so a screen replacement here produces no parts notice of any kind, and Touch ID carries on working exactly as it did.
