What we recover from

We work across the full range of everyday storage: internal and external hard drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs and NVMe), smartphones and tablets (iOS and Android), laptops and desktops, and removable media such as USB flash drives, SD cards, and memory sticks. More serious physical failures - for example a drive with damaged internal mechanics - generally need specialist in-lab work, and where a case falls outside what we can safely handle in-house we'll tell you plainly and, where it makes sense, point you toward a dedicated clean-environment lab partner rather than risk your data.

How the process works

Every job starts with a free diagnostic. You bring the device in to our Haverhill shop (or send it to us by post), we assess exactly what's happened, and we tell you whether recovery looks viable, roughly how much of the data we expect to retrieve, and what it will cost - all before any chargeable work begins. If we can't recover your data, our No Data, No Fee promise means you don't pay the recovery fee. Once you approve the quote, our technicians carry out the recovery using established tools and techniques, and we return everything to you on the medium of your choice, such as a new drive or USB stick. We keep your data confidential throughout and securely wipe our working copies once you've confirmed you have everything back.

Turnaround

Most diagnostics are completed within a couple of working days. Straightforward logical recoveries - deleted files, a corrupted file system, a drive that's still spinning - are often turned around within a few days of you approving the quote. More complex cases naturally take longer, and we'll always give you a realistic timescale up front rather than an optimistic one. If a job turns out to be more involved than the diagnostic suggested, we come back to you before doing anything that changes the price.

Indicative pricing

Every recovery is different, so we price each job individually after the free diagnostic - but to give you a rough idea:

• Logical recoveries (deleted/reformatted files, file-system corruption) - typically from £79, varies by case.
• Phone and tablet recoveries - from around £99, depending on the device and the type of fault.
• Failed or unreadable drives (HDD/SSD that won't mount) - from £129, with the exact figure confirmed after diagnosis.

These are starting points to help you plan, not guaranteed prices - your written quote after the free diagnostic is what counts, and there's no obligation to proceed.

A word on success rates

We recover data successfully on the large majority of the common faults we see, but no honest provider can promise a recovery sight-unseen - the outcome depends on what's actually wrong with the device and how it was handled afterwards. The single most useful thing you can do is stop using the device as soon as you notice a problem: continuing to write to it can overwrite the very files you're trying to save.
